PGCE lectures
During this PGCE course I have attended many different classes, with different lecturers (each with their own level of competency) in a variety of venues with different resources and equipment. I have however been surprised and appalled at the general failure to engage the students and the lecturers lack of ability to use opportunities presented to them in terms of technology and resources. The majority of lecturers in the course use a PowerPoint with all their information, from which the read for the duration of the lesson. This in combination with You-Tube videos which are watched in class is the extent of technology incorporated. Even Blackboard Learn's Clickup platform is only used to upload the study guide and the PowerPoint presentations. I personally think that the flipped classroom idea could be much better utilized by giving students the videos and content before the lesson and using the class times for meaningful discussions or active engagement in activities.
